Share Hours

"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously"

2 Corinthians 9:6

At Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton School, we practice good stewardship to the community, school, and each other.

As a private Catholic School operated on a limited budget, Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton School strives to maintain excellence in education, enhance our student’s school experience through extra-curricular activities and school social events, while providing service to our community through faith based outreach initiatives.

In addition, SEAS is committed to keeping tuition rates affordable to ensure that a strong faith-based education is available for all students. In order to do this, parents are required to contribute to the SEAS community through the contributions of share hours.

Share Hour Program

Share Hours represents the “sweat equity” or parents “time and talent” portion of their stewardship to SEAS.

Parents are required to perform a minimum of 40 hours of service to the school via designated classroom and school activities.

For parents with 100% sole custody of their child(ren) or who also have students enrolled at Lumen Christi, this requirement is reduced to 20 hours.

Share Hour Agreement

During the enrollment process, parents are asked to read and sign a “PVO Share Hour Agreement”.

Parents who are re-enrolling their student will complete this form in the spring.

Parents who are unable to meet their full share hour requirement will be assessed $25 for every share hour that they have not completed.

Share Hour Procedures

It is the responsibility to each parent and/or guardian to record their share hours. Recording of share hours is on the honor system basis. However, the Share Hour Committee will review the Share Hour Log Book regularly, tally hours, and make make notes about hours that do not qualify.

When logging hours, parents are asked to please observe the following procedures:

The Share Hour Log Book is kept at the front office. If coming into the school during the school day is difficult, please keep track at home in a notebook or on an EXCEL Spreadsheet that can be scanned or emailed to the PVO email inbox at pvo@akseas.com.

If an activity is deemed unqualified as a share hour, a written appeal should be submitted to the Share Hour Committee for review and discussion. All decisions of the Share Hour Committee regarding Share Hours are final and binding.

Record the date the activity was performed, a description of the activity performed, and the number of hours worked.

If there is a question about whether activities qualify for share hours, please contact a member of the Share Hour Committee before performing the activity.

Record hours promptly whenever possible and no less often than once a quarter. This helps in the administration of the program.
