Spanish is taught to grades Kindergarten through sixth in two 40-minute Spanish class per week.
Classes emphasize vocabulary, basic grammar, usage, conversational phrases, elements of and appreciation for Hispanic culture (including some religious practices), and music. The focus of the class is familiarization with conversational Spanish language and culture.
Physical Education is taught in all grades. The emphasis is on basic skills, movement, fair play, exercise, games, and the rules and skills of games.
Pre-K through sixth grade each have two 40-minute classes of physical education per week. Students are taught in a manner that allows them to grow in their abilities while developing self-confidence. Skill building occurs in small steps and is presented using developmentally appropriate techniques.
All students are required to have a designated pair of P.E. shoes that are indoor only with non-marking soles.
Computer technology is taught in grades kindergarten through sixth with a focus on computer literacy, online capabilities, keyboarding, and the use of various media.
Through a mobile computer cart, which contains 25 Chrome laptops, students receive two periods of instruction per week. Kindergarten and first graders receive one period of computer instruction per week.
Students in grades four through sixth who wish to continue building on their technology skills may also join the afterschool Robotics Club.
Pre-K though sixth grade have one 40-minute library session per week.
Students learn library and research skills and have the opportunity to check our books of their choice from school library.
The school also hosts an annual school-wide spring book exchange event to further promote reading and literacy.
Music is taught to all grades. It is a comprehensive program that includes music appreciation, rhythm, reading basic notation, the history of music, a variety of types of music, liturgical music, music programs, and the basic knowledge and use of simple instruments.
Pre-K through sixth grade have two 40-minute music classes each week. Instruction is focused on music appreciation, singing, dancing, and reading music. Third through sixth grade also receive instruction in playing the recorder.
The music teacher leads the weekly school Mass and third through sixth grade students also have the option to serve as choir cantors, play percussive instruments, and hand bell chimes. Some liturgical hymns are taught in Spanish and Latin to support awareness and knowledge of other languages. The music teacher also works diligently to prepare the students for an annual Christmas program and Spring plays.
Students in kindergarten through sixth grade receive 60 minutes of direct art instruction per week from a certified teacher.
In art, students explore a variety of different medias of art throughout the year.
For students who wish to receive additional art instructions, an afterschool Art program is available throughout the school year for grades first through sixth.
